There are a number of
different ways to make fabric dolls look primitive. Primitive dolls and
crafts are big in the U.S. and other countries. They fit in nice with just
about any decor like: primitive, country, traditional, folk art, vintage,
and cottage style. Notice the Harvest dolls and crafts in this group.

They were rubbed with a
stencil brush that had very little brown paint on it. This method gives the
harvest crafts a dirty, old, primitive look.
Notice the primitive doll
here.

Before she was even made, her
muslin fabric, which was used for her body and apron, was soaked in a
mixture of coffee and water. The fabric was left in this mixture for
a couple of hours and was then hung outside to dry. Then her
pattern was placed on the fabric, pinned, cut, and she was sewn together.
Notice the primitive nurse
doll here.

Everything listed above was
done to this primitive muslin doll. To make her even more primitive
looking, she was rubbed in cinnamon and cloves. Notice the gringy,
dirty apron. You can see where the cinnamon was rubbed. Not only
does she look old and primitive, she smells really good, too! |
